BCTA Coach Jeremy Carl Chosen as Coach at USTA Mid-Atlantic National EDC Orange Ball 3-Camp Series
Where do aspiring youth tennis players turn when they need a boost in fundamentals and skills? The USTA Mid-Atlantic Early Development Camp (EDC) – and to our own Blue Chip Coach and Director of Junior Development for Mount Vernon Athletic Club, Jeremy Carl!
Coach Jeremy Carl Leads the U10 Tennis Youth Camp
Coach Jeremy was just selected as one of the coaches at the USTA National EDC Orange Ball 3-Camp series. EDC’s are a National Camp Structure that aim to provide opportunities for the top local U10 athletes to train together. During each camp, coaches from around the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section offer custom coaching and provide training opportunities for the players attending. At the Early Development Orange Ball Camp, focus is on fundamentals and overall athletic skill development. The camps include a progression of themes that help with the overall tennis and athletic development of the youth tennis players.
- Camp 1: The Expert Rallyer. Learning and Respect the Game. Why 10 & Under? Linking Athletic Development to the Technical Development of the Groundstrokes
- Camp 2: The Net Dominator. What are the Mechanics of Being a Competitor? Introduction to Training & Competition. Linking Athletic Development to the Transition Game
- Camp 3: The All Court Player. Learning to be Resilient. Preparing for the Next Court. Moving to the Next Court and the Potential Challenges. Linking Athletic Development to the All Court Player.
Not just for the kids, each camp also features an informative and interactive parent presentation to go through important information regarding the child’s progress, plus gives the opportunity to ask any questions. Following each EDC, kids and their parents receive an evaluation that they can review together, then share with their coach. Players also receive Youth Progression Stars for each camp they attend.
