Blue Chip Tennis Professional Publishes Article in USPTA Magazine
All coaches have responsibility of instilling various core values and game strategies into the players that they are coaching. Our Blue Chip Tennis Professionals take this responsibility serious and hope that we every player we coach is able to not only apply the lessons that they learn to their tennis game but that they carry these lessons through life. Blue Chip Tennis Professional, Jeremy Carl, recently published an article in the Tennis Industry magazine titled, “Creating Passionate Problem Solvers on the Court.”
“It is a privilege to share through the USPTA ADDvantage magazine why I love coaching this wonderful game which provides players life skills beyond the game of tennis.”
Purpose, Perseverance, and Philosophy
Jeremy believes in instilling the 3 “P’s” – Purpose, Perseverance, and Philosophy – in every player. In lessons, players should be hitting with a purpose. This means that they should be able to define and execute the shot they want to hit. Players should be able to demonstrate stamina, endurance, and ability to problem solve despite the obstacles they may be facing (perseverance). Player should also be able to play according to their own personal philosophy. By philosophy, Carl means that each player should remember why they are going on the courts (beyond winning a match) and to remember their strengths and weaknesses.
“Tennis is one of the few sports where match problem solving has to be done by players themselves with coaches providing only a road map for various situations,” says BCTA Tennis Professional Jeremy Carl.
