Since 2006, Mount Vernon Athletic Club has been hosting the Swing for Pink and swing for fun charity event and has raised over $153,000 for the fight against breast cancer. The funds raised are used in the local Alexandria community, specifically at the Breast Care Institute at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and Inova Alexandria Hospital Cancer Center. Mount Vernon Athletic Club member Ron Fitzsimmons introduced club GM Dimitris Kollaros to Alice’s Kids. Dimitris knew he could help. They rallied members and created a March Madness Bracket Challenge for Charity, then tapped into the corporate charitable arm of Van Metre Companies. Together they raised over $5K.

Mount Vernon tennis pros Jeremy Carl and Tim Bainton have been invited to participate in a prestigious USTA High Performance Continuing Education program this summer. The competitive and selective program will run in conjunction with the Davis Cup Quarterfinals July 15-17 in Portland, Oregon.
