The Next Generation of Junior Tennis Players Take on Their First USTA Tournament – and Make BCT Proud!

When you think of a typical seven-year-old’s summer evening, you might envision them riding bikes with friends, splashing around in the pool or catching up on the Disney Channel.

Carbo-loading between matches!

Not so for Maggie Carl and Sofia Tavangar! These two junior tennis players recently took to the tennis courts to compete in their very first USTA tournament.  And they made both Coach Carl and the Blue Chip Tennis Academy family very proud!

Junior Tennis Players Make a Big Impact

Maggie and Sofia competed in the NextGen TennisBASH on June 15th. From 6 – 8pm, those two (and many other junior tennis players) gave it their all at Onelife Fitness Skyline in Falls Church, VA. At just seven years old, Maggie and Sofia were two of the youngest players and competed in the 10 and under division. According to spectators and tournament organizers alike, they held their own! They played several rounds of doubles and each played one round of singles.

For Maggie and Sofia, it wasn’t just about playing well. They impressed Coach Carl with their love of the game, their respect to their competitors and tournament directors and a determined attitude.

“I just witnessed what makes me love being a tennis coach. I just watched two of our blue chip 7 year olds rock their first tournament experience. They were some of the youngest ones at a USTA sanctioned tennis bash and held their own. Rob Issem (the Tournament Director and 10 & Under USTA Mid-Atlantic Section Manager) was very impressed.” -MTVAC Director of Junior Development (and Maggie’s proud dad), Jeremy Carl

MTVAC Tennis On and Off the Court

According to Coach Carl, Maggie and Sofia’s skills, never-give-up attitudes and passion for the game is a direct representation of the coaching that Blue Chip Tennis instills in its junior tennis players. From tennis lessons to workshops, summer camps and clinics, MTVAC tennis programs are for players of every skill level. You don’t need to compete at USTA tournaments or dedicate your life to the sport to simply enjoy it and improve your game!
