Mount Vernon Athletics in Full Swing this Spring!
It’s not even technically spring yet, but our staff have already kicked Mount Vernon athletics and performance into high gear! The accomplishments and honors just keep coming!
Mount Vernon Athletics: Tennis Spotlight
The tennis pros are setting the bar high in 2018! In February, Kelly Sykes was presented with the PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Young Professional of the Year Award. PTR is the largest international organization of tennis teaching professionals, so the award is a true honor. Kelly is the youngest MTVAC professional tennis coach to receive the award. He was honored at the PTR International Symposium, where our own Blue Chip Sports Management Founder and Tennis Pro Tim Bainton also presented!
Tim was busy in February! In addition to presenting at PTR, he was also featured in an “Ask the Expert” article published in Club Solutions Magazine. In the article, Tim talks about data management and why it’s so important in the club industry. While data may not seem like exciting Mount Vernon athletics, it helps us optimize programs and services, making for the best member experience possible. Also presenting earlier this year was our General Manager and MTVAC Personal Trainer Dimitris Kollaros. He was proud to represent the club as a featured speaker at the USTA Mid-Atlantic Coaches Conference.
Swinging High Across the Board
Both MTVAC staff and members can celebrate a big accomplishment this year. Our annual Swing For Pink Breast Cancer Charity Event awarded a record-breaking $17,253 to Inova Mount Vernon and Alexandria Hospital! The passion and dedication of our community to help one another is amazing, but seeing numbers and support like this is simply inspiring! Let’s keep up the momentum and top that number this fall – the next Swing For Pink has already been scheduled for 10/19/18.
From swinging a tennis racket to swinging a golf club, MTVAC tennis pro Patrick Escalambre is a double threat in Mount Vernon Atheltics. Already an accomplished tennis player and coach, Patrick is also quite the amateur golfer. Proving such, he just WON the Mike Miller Annual Golf Tournament!
Training For All Activities
It’s not all about tennis this year! MTVAC Personal Trainer Brenda Simon is a true Mount Vernon athletics enthusiast, especially for rowing. Brenda is teaching and leading by example – she just took home a GOLD MEDAL in the 500 meter sprint at the World Rowing Indoor Championships!
What a dynamic and athletic staff we have here at MTVAC! Their performance and heart in Mount Vernon athletics makes them exceptional role models for our entire community. Are you inspired to pick up a racket or golf club, or hit the cardio machines? Talk to a client coordinator to see how a personal trainer or group training programs can set you on the road to success!Tags: athletics, fitness, members, MTAVC staff, tennis, tennis pro
