MTVAC Tennis Pro Dan Myers is the Youngest to Attend Elite USTA Coaching Program!

Blue Chip Tennis Academy Tennis Pro Dan MyersMTVAC and Blue Chip Tennis Pro Dan Myers recently attended the the USTA High Performance Coaching Program held in Carson, California. Not only was this seasoned tennis pro one of only 48 coaches that are selected to attend every two years, but he is also the youngest coach to be accepted into the program!

Training a Tennis Pro

The Program took place August 10-14, 2016 in sunny southern California. Each eight-hour day focused on a different coaching element, such as teaching progressions, mental skills training, coaching philosophies, and strength and conditioning exercises. There was a heavy focus on review techniques, including match play analysis and video analysis.  The program also featured point construction strategy, advanced footwork and movement patterns, and player development.

I always thought that coaching was telling someone how to play through basic verbal and physical instruction. Now I realize that coaching is helping someone to grow their game through cooperation between the coach and player, while helping the player achieve their own short and long term goals. – Dan Myers

He is excited to be back on the MTVAC tennis courts to share all he’s learned with his fellow tennis pro staff members at Blue Chip Tennis Academy. Heads up MTVAC tennis players: get ready to participate in a few new and exciting drills on and off the courts!
