It was an exciting summer for the women of Blue Chip Tennis. The Sassy Smashers and Sassy Shots teams participated in the Loudoun County 40 and Over Summer League – and came in firstThe USTA tennis tournaments took place in Loudoun, VA, where each team played in multiple rounds of fun and competitive tennis competition to mark the end of the summer season.

Players and Coaches Make Their Mark in Tennis Tournaments

Hats off to Jason Wnuk, Director of Blue Chip Tennis Operations at Worldgate. He coached and co-captained the two tennis teams, leading them to a sweet tennis tournament victory.

Among the tennis players on both teams, Sassy Smashers Player and Captain Jo Cooper stood out. She worked with Coach Jason over the years to improve her tennis skill and overall game play. Cooper started as a 2.5 rating and was bumped to a 3.0 rating last year.

But Cooper isn’t just a rock star on the court. She played a large role in organizing both teams and put a lot of work into scheduling and player availability.

USTA Adult Leagues

As the country’s largest recreational tennis league, the USTA League has more than 330,000 players nationwide. Over the course of a tennis tournament, players compete in match play, meet new people and enjoy the company of their teammates in national divisions.  Match play is based on the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) rating system. This means you will play with and against players of similar ability. Even if you are new to the game of tennis or a former player, there’s a spot for you! USTA League also offers the chance to advance from local tournaments to USTA League National Championship events.

If you are looking to try tennis for the first time or hone your skills as an experienced tennis player, check out Blue Chip Tennis! The academy offers workshops, clinics and camps across three Mid-Atlantic locations!
